Through the looking glass we find ourselves…
A faerie is a type of mythical being or legendary creature found in the folklore of multiple cultures. Myths and stories about fairies do not have a single origin, but are rather a collection of folk beliefs from sources, sightings and tales through the ages. I created this piece to represent a Fairy ring, the liminal space between, often associated with hazardous and dangerous places…what better opportunity than to dive into our own minds, a twist of adventure into a wonderland-esque portal. Reishi, Puffballs, Billy Balls, Moss and Amanita Muscaria adorn this mirror set into a wellstone background. Each mirror comes felted to protect the wall, with a sawtooth comb hanger on the back for easy hanging. Each has been hand cast and painted by me (Holly Macabre) and is an original work exclusive to Fae’s Cabinet.
